Women’s fashion is a male-dominated field. It always has been, and still is today. But, today the industry is more flexible. Women have found their voice. We no longer try to force our bodies into styles that are designed for women who are shaped differently. This has always been an issue for formal wear, but today’s woman expects to be uniquely fabulous in casual wear as well.
The fashion industry is creative, exciting and alluring, but it can also lead us a stray. One minute, you’re sticking to your signature style, and the next, you’re buying into underwear as outerwear as the catwalks said it was cool. And then, you wonder how you ever ended up with a wardrobe full of fashion you never wear.
Every generation has new style icons. They’re all inspirational in their own ways. They’re all unique, yet they appeal to the masses. Even today, we look at style icons across decades and admire them for their messages. We aspire to be as cool, collected, or classy as them.
