Ways To Fight Fatigue That Don’t Involve Sleeping

Are you falling asleep in boardroom meetings? Nodding off on the train home? Feeling so sleepy it takes you three cups of coffee before you feel alert in the morning? Then it sounds like you’re suffering from fatigue.

Fatigue is absolutely no fun at all. It affects your body, your mind and your overall sense of well-being. However, while sleep can help massively, it is not the only way to feel better. Read on for a few more things that will help make you far more alert when you need to be.

Being dehydrated is one of the prime reasons why you feel fatigued. When so much of our bodies are made up of water, it only makes sense that we need to keep topped up. Otherwise, we simply can’t function as well, and this goes for both our bodies and minds.

There is a good reason why many of us feel far more tired in the dark, winter months. Our bodies and minds thrive off the sun’s rays. As a result, when it goes away, it can have a real effect on us. If you can get away for a week in the sun during the winter, it will do you a world of good. However, if this isn’t an option, there is another way. Sun lights lamps are small boxes that emit rays with mimic the effects of natural sunlight. How do they work? Well, Melatonin is a chemical that makes us sleepy. These lights reduce the amount of Melatonin inside you. Genius! For this reason, avoid using them just before bed, or you might have trouble falling asleep!

Your diet

Vitamins, minerals and supplements can help massively in the fight against fatigue. Vitamin B12 can help, as can Folic Acid. And don’t forget Vitamin C, of course! You might also want to consider dietary supplements, like tribulus terrestris.

While these things are great to help you along, you should also be placing a focus on your diet. Ditch the things that give you a quick burst of energy, but then leave you feeling drained. Replace them with foods that give long lasting energy, that look after your body after they’ve been consumed.

Running, jumping around or lifting weights doesn’t seem like a logical thing that will help fight fatigue. But it really will! And guess what? Fun workouts are totally a thing! Exercising doesn’t have to be a totally miserable affair. If you like to train alone, listen to some great music on a good quality pair of headphones. Or maybe you get better results when you have somebody else to motivate you? In this case, get a personal trainer for the gym. Go with someone you can have a laugh with as well as getting results. Or ditch the gym altogether and take up a sport. Play tennis with your other half, or join a local basketball team. The group camaraderie could be just what you need. Exercise = energy. Weird, but true! It will also mean that you get a better night’s sleep. Bonus!
